“Heart of Mongolia tour” covers some of the most popular destinations of central Mongolia. Day 1. Ulaanbaatar
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and meet our guide and driver. Transfer to hotel and check in. In the afternoon city tour in Ulaanbaatar city: visit Sukhbaatar Square, Chinggis Khaan’s monument, Natural History Museum, and visit Zaisan Memorial for Panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2. Travel to Terelj National Park
Drive for 90 km and we will get National Park Terelj. On the way, we will stop by the Ovoo. The Terelj National Park is the most popular destination and the third biggest protected area in Mongolia. We will visit a local monastery named Aryabala and visit Turtle Rock which are the popular highlights of the area. The area is special because it includes all properties of Mongolian countryside. Day 3. Travel to Mongol Els
After breakfast in the Terelj National Park, we will head to the west side of Ulaanbaatar for the Mongol Els to feel like we are in the mini gobi. The Mongol Sand Dune massive lies along the east side of the Tarna river. The widest part of the sand dune is 9-10 km, birch and larch trees cover the top.There are many historical places, including: Uvgun temple, granite stone statues. In the afternoon, we will have possibility to ride camel shortly along the sand dune. Stay overnight in the Ger camp. BLD.
Day 4. Mongol Els - Kharkhorin
From the Mongol Els, the ancient, first capital city of the Great Mongol Empire, Kharkhorin is only 80 km to get to. On the ruins of the ancient city, a famous monastery was built in 16th century. We will get there before 11 am to see the monks’ ceremony at Erdenezuu monastery which is a focal point in the history and culture of the Mongol people. We will see 2 museums to get to know how the city was like and the Mongolian Buddism. Also, we will visit the remains from the city and some historical monuments. Stay overnight in the Ger camp. BLD.
Day 5. Ancient city - Orkhon Waterfall
Today we will drive for 150 km to famous Orkhon valley with Orkhon waterfall, which is one of the best sights in the Central Mongolia. About 250m downstream from the waterfall, you can climb down to the bottom of the gorge; it is 22m deep and dotted with pine trees. But from the bottom, you can relax hearing the sound of strong stream of the waterfall. The Orkhon river Valley has been protected since 2006 as a National Park. Today you will see yaks and so many of sheep, goat, cow and horse. Stay overnight in ger camp. BLD
Day 6. Travel to Tsenkher hot spring
After breakfast in the fresh morning air, we will leave the waterfall area for the Tsenkher which is a natural hot spring that flows from the ground, through the seasons, at a temperature of 85 Celsius. The spring is located in central Mongolia in a mountainous region, at 1,860 meters above the sea level. The spring is beneficial for health and there is a natural spa on-site which is ideal for the travel-tired. There are also plenty of walking opportunities in the surrounding forest. You will like the wild flowers and high green grasses. Stay overnight in Ger camp.BLD.
Day 7. Travel to Terkh White Lake
Soon after leaving the valley with the hot spring, we will visit a city shortly, Tsetserleg, which is capital of Arkhangai province. From the city, we will drive for 160 km to White Lake / Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake. On the way, we will also pass by a great canyon named Chuluut Canyon. Known as Great White Lake is lake in the Khangai Mountains in central Mongolia. In February, 2011 it was featured get away location on CNN.com. The lake is perfect for swimming which has white sandy beaches. Enjoy evening by walking along the lake. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD.
Day 8. A leisure day at the lake
A relaxing day at the lake. After breakfast, we will drive for very shortly to a volcano Khorgo. The dead volcano is situated at an altitude of 2.210 meters with a diameter of 20 meters and depth of 70 to 80 meters, is the most interesting at all. About 8000 years ago volcanic lava flooded the valleys nearby which are covered today with small forests of Sibirian larch and a great variety of berries and flowers. You can climb up to the rim of the crater for some fabulous views. There are steps uo to the crater from the west side. In the afternoon, we will have option to ride horse or walk around the lakeJ Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD.
Day 9. Travel to Ogii lake
Today we will travel to another beautiful lake Ogii which is famous by its birdlife and is one of the biggest lakes in Mongolia and located in Arkhangai province. It is quite stunning place for birdwatching, fishing and swimming. There are 150 sorts of extremely rare and rare species birds of passage come to settle down on the "Ogii" lake. Also the "Ogii" lake has 14 sorts of fish belonged to the North Atlantic ocean area You can walk along the lake while enjoying the birds in the evening. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD.
Day 10. Travel to Khustai National Park
After morning short walk, we will drive to Khustai National Park for about 300 km on the asphalt road. On the way, we will stop by an ancient ruin of a Palace dated back to 8th century. Then travel continually to the National Park. There are dozens of wild animals such as wolves, deer, and Przewalski horse which was reintroduced in 1990 with a cooperation of the Foundation Reserves for the Przewalski Horse and the support of Dutch Government. In the evening, we will see the wild horses when they come down from the mountain to drink from water.. Stay overnight in Ger camp. BLD.
